"I have been blessed... and through a combination of circumstances I could never have predicted I find myself in a position to help individuals with developmental and learning disabilities... and to help more than I ever dreamed I could. I'm talking about children and those of adult age with disabilities. They can only fulfill their own dreams if people like us—you and me—help them. So now, in Pennsylvania, I have been able to establish... a foundation to buy miracles for these very important people, so that they can do many of the things that we all take for granted... but are miracles to them. Like enjoying life with family and friends, and looking forward to each day being better than the day before. I'm talking about people like my nephew, Christopher, and my own son, Dennis. This foundation is called Keystone Charities Fund. It exists to provide money and resources to those wonderful organizations, individuals and groups out there, working so hard to make a difference in the lives of Pennsylvanians with learning and developmental disabilities.

For example, a youngster with dyslexia or attention deficit disorder has to work twice as hard as a typical child to read and re-read—study, and re-study—to earn the grades that will enable them to get and hold a job, or go to college. And someone on the autism spectrum has a multiplicity of disabling characteristics, in communication and sensory deficits. Yet today, as a result of therapeutic advances and appropriate education, every human being with autism can achieve higher levels of ability to cope with today's complex world.

Such disabilities... like autism and verbal and non-verbal dyslexia cannot be completely cured. They can only be made progressively less disabling, so that the individuals affected by them can learn to live with them. It is important that you know that individuals with developmental and learning disabilities did not choose the personal challenges they face, but are learning through patience, support and research to overcome them. That's why no one can argue the fact that they need and deserve our help.

I ask that you help us buy miracles for these very important Pennsylvanians. Please help Keystone Charities Fund to the fullest extent you can."
